About the Author :
Dr. Albert V. Carron, is professor and member of the School of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. Professor Carron received an Ed.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967 and M.A. (1965) and B.P.E. (1963) degrees from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He became a faculty member at the University of Saskatchewan in 1967 and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 1971. He has been at the University of Western Ontario since 1974; in 1978 he was promoted to the rank of Professor. In addition, he currently is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sport Sciences at Brunel University, London, UK, as well as in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada.Professor Carron has been an author or co-author of 10 books or monographs, 30 chapters in books, 120 refereed publications, and has over 250 presentations, invited addresses, and professional workshops. Professionally, Professor Carron is a Fellow in the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education, the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology, and the Canadian Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology Association. He is a Past President of the Canadian Association for Sport Sciences and a former member of Board of Directors of the Sports Medicine Council of Canada. Currently, Carron is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, Small Group Research, and the International Journal of Sport Psychology. Dr. Heather Hausenblas is an assistant professor at the University of Florida and Director of the Exercise Psychology Laboratory. Heather is currently a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology. She is a co-author of Group Dynamics in Sport, co-editor of the Handbook of Sport Psychology, and has over 30 refereed publications in scientific journals. In 1996 she was the recipient of the Young Scientist of Canada Award for Scholarly Achievement and in 1998 she was a co-recipient of the Sport Science Award of the International Olympic Committee President. Dr. Paul Estabrooks is a Research Scientist in the clinical Research Unit of Kaiser Permanente-Colorado. Dr. Estabrooks is currently a member of the National Task Force on Positive Youth Development and The National Institutes of Health Behavior Change Consortium. He has also received funding through the USDA and NIH to conduct controlled trials targeting the promotion of physical activity through school and community based associations. Dr. Estabrooks has been an author or co-author of over 30 publications including book chapters and refereed publications.
