About the Book

Our "All About..." series continues to be one of our most successful, with such best-selling titles as All About Options and All About Stocks. The original scope of the series focused on asset classes (stocks, bonds, options, mutual funds, etc.). Over the past year, we have begun to expand the series beyond that original focus into such areas as stock market strategy and DRIPs and DSPs. All About Technical Analysis continues the expansion of the series into one of the hottest topics in the investing and trading world. Investors and traders have learned that the market doesn't always just go up. When that is combined with the increased volatility of the past year or two, individual traders and investors are beginning to turn to such tools as technical analysis to help them make better trading and investing decisions. All About Technical Analysis provides a practical understanding of what technical analysis is and how the individual trader can benefit by applying technical analysis methods. Technical analysis can be used in a variety of ways: stock selection, interest rate direction, market timing, or revealing the strongest stocks in a given sector. This accessible and easy-to-understand book explains why and illustrates how technical analysis can be a tremendous decision making tool for any market and any time frame. Written by a professional technical analyst whose prognostications are used by professional and institutional traders, the book shows individual investors how to apply the many different methods in the same way professionals do. Topics covered include: - How to create and read charts - Identifying levels of support and resistance - Using charts for different time frames - How to set up a moving average - Making sense of oscillators - Where fundamental analysis fits in relation to technical analysis The author closes the book with a walk-through of three real life examples that show how investors can use technical analysis in different ways to make investing and trading decisions.
