About the Book

The modern world's cutting edge technologies have ignited a revolution on Wall Street. They have given individual investors access to the markets that until a short while ago only the professionals enjoyed. With this newfound freedom, individual investors are doing more now with their own accounts than ever before. And now that the individual investors have the same access to the markets, they also need the same information as the professionals to put them on a level playing field. "Think Like a Trader, Invest Like a Pro" should minimize this information gap by providing the individual investor with the information that the professional traders and institutional investors use. Most of the information the pros use is now availabile over the Internet and is either free or at a low cost. This book should teach the individual investor how to use this windfall of information like the pros do. It will cover information needed to invest and trade stocks, bonds and commodity futures. The work is organized around the general categories of information required by the professionals: real-time market price and size; technical information - charts and statistics; fundamental information - earnings and economic news releases; real-time market colour and descriptions of order flow; and the ability to perform custom analyses and analytics. The websites described in this work comprise a complete set of tools that provide the individual investor with capabilities in each of these critical classes of information. The title includes detailed descriptions of 35 websites, such as los.net, whispernumber.com, and bridge.com. The content of this volume provides information in the following ways: the information provided by the websites is put in the context of trading theory and best practices by institutional investors and traders; the websites described are vetted by the pros at some of the best Wall Street firms; numerous sidebars describe the specific ways in which the institutional investors and traders use the information that the given website describes; and sidebars describe sample information and the conclusions that the pros might derive from that information. All the information the individual investor needs is available over the Internet, but "Think Like a Trader, Invest Like a Pro" shows how to actually use this information to make better investing and trading decisions.
