About the Book

NYPD Detective Jeremy Fisk--introduced in Law & Order creator Dick Wolf's New York Times bestselling debut The Intercept--must stop an assassin in the pay of a shadowy cartel in The Execution, a tense thriller that superbly blends suspense, politics, intrigue and high-flying action in the tradition of Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, and Robert Crais. Ten days after the Mexican presidential election, twenty-three bodies are discovered beheaded on the United States border, each marked with a carving of a Hummingbird. Detective Cecilia Garza of the Mexican intelligence agency recognizes it: it is the signature of an assassin called Chuparosa. Garza has been pursuing the killer for years, yet knows little about him, except that he's heading to New York--with the rest of the world. It's United Nations Week in Manhattan and Jeremy Fisk can't let grief over a devastating loss keep him from safeguarding his city. Complicating matters is the startling news of a mass murder in nearby Rockaway--and the arrival of a disturbingly beautiful and assertive Mexican cop. To have a chance at finding Chuparosa, these uneasy allies must learn to work together and fast. As they soon discover, there's more to this threat than meets the eye--and that justice is not always blind.

Review :
"Wolf keeps the action flowing and puts the reader on edge while crafting a story that builds with many different layers leading up to the exciting climax with a twist. Wolf is putting his stamp on the political thriller challenging the likes of Brad Thor and David Baldacci . . . a master storyteller and it shows perfectly in The Execution." - Suspense Magazine on The Execution "Excellent . . . [Wolf] is now putting his stamp in the political thriller genre challenging the likes of Brad Thor and David Baldacci . . . a master storyteller and it shows perfectly in The Execution. - Suspense Magazine on The Execution "[Wolf] is now putting his stamp in the political thriller genre challenging the likes of Brad Thor and David Baldacci . . . a master storyteller and it shows perfectly in The Execution. - Suspense Magazine The Execution is everything you'd expect from Wolf, the creator of the successful Law & Order television franchise--lots of action, quick scene changes and a great deal of insider knowledge of everything from weapons to politics. . . . a brisk and entertaining read." - Cleveland Plain Dealer on The Execution "Part police procedural and part ticking-bomb thriller." - New York Times "[A] gripping adventure . . . Not to be missed!" - BookPage.com on The Execution "[A] gripping adventure . . . Not to be missed!" - BookPage.com "A page-turning novel that reads like a compelling episode of the best television has to offer. And like his stories from Law & Order, the novel feels like it could be ripped from the headlines. . . . Wolf takes the time to explore what makes people in law enforcement strive to be the best they can be while keeping the pace of the story frenetic." - Seattle Post-Intelligencer on The Execution "A page-turning novel that reads like a compelling episode of the best television has to offer. And like his stories from Law & Order, the novel feels like it could be ripped from the headlines." - Seattle Post-Intelligencer "The first novel by the creator of Law & Order feels like a Law & Order episode. Thank goodness. . . . Like Law & Order, The Intercept works as well as it does because of its pacing; it's a fast read with a satisfying arc. . . . Its supporting cast members are drawn sharply enough to imagine them being inhabited by New York character actors." - Slate "Wolf makes it look like he's been writing novels his entire life. Wolf does a shrewd job of setting the stage for his protagonist's next appearance. Storytelling pro Wolf knows how to ratchet up tension and sustain it." - Kirkus Reviews "Stephen King has been touted as the master of the horror novel. His stories are fantasy and psychological based tales about horrible things. Well, I think King needs to make room as author Dick Wolf takes a stab at a new horror--terrorist attacks aginst our nation--in his novel The Intercept. Wolf is the genius behind the many different incarnations of the Law and Order television shows . . . now Wolf turns his attention to creating that same kind of thrill-rush in novel form. . . . a roller-coaster ride of suspense, intrigue and action . . . the plot races along, giving the reader little time to catch his or her breath. . . . a novel that readers will not forget." - Las Vegas Review-Journal "Stunning, heart-stopping fiction. . . . [A] fabulous new book . . . it's un-put-downable, full of good and bad guys and lots of surprises. . . . If you are a thrill seeker, don't miss this novel." - Liz Smith, Huffington Post "The Intercept is the hottest thriller of the year. Superbly written and amazingly intense, Dick Wolf has created an action-packed masterpiece. Picture Robert Ludlum writing for "24" and you're only halfway there. Do not miss this incredible novel. Intercept yours ASAP!" - Brad Thor, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Black List "A can-they-stop-him thriller in the manner of Day of the Jackal." - Miami Herald "An adrenaline-fueled, ripped-from-the-headlines suspense novel, as befitting a renowned TV crime drama writer and producer. The Intercept goes where few thrillers have gone before, charting the inner workings of the nation's fight against terrorism as one New York detective races against the clock to stop an elusive cell of elite terrorists. It does for the NYPD's Intelligence Division what Thomas Harris did for the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit. In this novel, danger is always closer than you think." - Lisa Gardner, New York Times bestselling author of Catch Me "Dick Wolf extends his brand masterfully in The Intercept . . . Wolf, who turned formula into high art in Law & Order, uses many of the same devices he deploys so effectively on TV: crosscutting, scene-shifting, manipulating points of view. That's how he builds suspense." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
