About the Author :
Authors Don and Barbara Laine have written about and traveled extensively throughout the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest. They are the authors of Frommer's guides to Utah, Colorado and Denver, Boulder & Colorado Springs, as well as Frommer's Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks and Frommer's Rocky Mountain National Park. A native of Los Angeles and an avid traveler, Stephanie Avnet Yates believes California is best seen from behind the wheel of a red convertible. She is the author of Frommer's Los Angeles, Frommer's San Diego, Frommer's Wonderful Weekends from Los Angeles, and coauthor of Frommer's California. Geoff O'Gara writes travel guides, fiction, and books on natural resource issues from his home in Lander, Wyoming, where he also works for Wyoming Public Television. His next book is What You See in Clear Water (Knopf). Jack Olson, a longtime resident of Denver, wanders the Rockies and the entire country as a freelance photographer and writer. He writes travel articles for AAA magazines and his photos may be seen in such publications as Backpacker, Audubon, Sierra, and National Geographic Books. A Denver-based freelance writer, Eric Peterson has contributed to numerous travel publications about the American West. He also writes for several Denver-based business and entertainment magazines, makes a mean chicken chili, and enjoys indoor and outdoor activities of all kinds, including but not limited to watching movies, hiking, fishing, and Chia Head horticulture. A resident of Park City, Utah, Alex Wells has written for magazines including CondE Nast Traveller, Men's Journal, and Outside. When not on assignment, he enjoys backcountry skiing and backpacking. His idea of heaven is an eternal hike through the Grand Canyon--with weekly breaks for pizza and showers. He is the author of Frommer's Grand Canyon National Park. Stacey Wells is a native Californian who grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and now lives in Oakland, California, where she works for an Internet start-up. She survives city life by making weekend trips to the Sierra. Stacey is the author of Frommer's Yosemite & Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks. Charles P. Wohlforth is a lifelong Alaskan who has been a writer and journalist since 1986. In 1992 he became a freelance writer for various regional and national magazines and for books such as Frommer's Alaska and Frommer's Family Vacations in the National Parks, which covers parks all over the United States based on insights from the Wohlforth family's own camping experiences. Some of the chapters in this second edition are based on material from the first edition written by T. D. Grifflth, Ed Lawrence, Jim Moore, Matthew R. Poole, and Tom Wells. Further information has been provided by Karl Samson and Lesley King.
