Tommy ZurhellenTommy Zurhellen is the author of the award-winning Messiah Trilogy of novels, which reimagine the life of Jesus in rural America: Nazareth, North Dakota (2011), Apostle Islands (2012) and Armageddon, Texas (2014), all from Atticus Books. His short stries have appeared widely, in Carolina Quarterly, Passages North, Quarterly West, Crab Creek Review and elsewhere. His popular column on veterans' issues "Dispatches from the VFW" appears regularly in the Dutchess Newspapers, and he still appears weekly on the Boris & Robyn Show on WPDH 101.5FM in the Hudson Valley to deliver a veterans' update. He served honorably in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Electrician onboard the USS Truxtun and USS California. With the help of the G.I. Bill, he received his M.F.A. in Fiction from the University of Alabama, and now teaches Creative Writing at Marist College, which is regularly celebrated as a "Best Regional University" and a "Best College for Veterans" by U.S. News & World Report.
