About the Author :
Know, as you step into this feral place, that I never meant for this to happen. The raw fantasy, the self-exploration, and the intimacy were all for exposure therapy. The beasts kept it at a safe distance. My stories were free; I didn't want to be alone in my journey. Readers came in like a flood, joining me on the road to healing, and a family was born. They learned the 'why' as I wrote and grew to know me by the book. Unexpectedly, unfortunately, some could relate. I grew to love them all. This shifter family asked me to publish. Perhaps this is where I am meant to be, and perhaps this is where survival can be. Perhaps that survival can turn into thriving. This could be my nest, my safe place, to grow and flourish.Since my novels are therapy-turned-product, they are heavy, explicit, but they come from a thoughtful place that yearns for peace. If my books help anyone who has felt the same, perhaps that could be the biggest reward of all. Ultimately, I have not been travelling alone on this road like I'd feared, and I owe my shifter family for that. -Starlight preserve you, Asha Nyr
Review :
Must read
A gorgeous fantasy romance between a wolf-shifter and a fae prince, focusing on power and lack thereof.
The third book in the Healing Fate series is another explosive, gripping, and unputdownable fantasy romance novel.
Hekla, the wolf-shifter has to adapt to a new environment, a new home, and a new family to be with Prince Belenus. She faces opposition from the members of Belenus's family such as the queen his mother, and other members of the royal court. Hekla has to adjust to a whole other culture and new customs while feeling that her customs are not honored. All the while she and Belenus struggle to come to terms with their budding bond because everything is tougher than expected from her first day in the Fae Realm.
I felt a deep connection to the words and characters from the start, and I love how the author paints a picture with words through description and dialogue. Some examples include when Hekla's emotions heighten through lust or anger and when Hekla sees and cares for new creatures like the mac-talla. The details of the relationships between the she-wolf friends are endearing and I love the connection and humor they share. At first, everything is very overwhelming for Hekla as she tries to adjust to being in the Fae Realm, she feels threatened and unable to access her inner strength. Some belittle her and don't see her as an equal because she is not Fae, others are drawn and attracted to her. I loved seeing how compassionate and powerful Hekla is when she later in the book cares for Emer, Belenus's sister, and when she assures her mac-talla that she will not discard him.
The character development of Prince Belenus is equally beautiful and displays a deepened understanding of the self and what one should fight for or prioritize in the face of losing love. Belenus at first seems aloof and in control of his emotions all the time, but soon that initial image cracks, and underneath is a man who is willing to fight and do whatever it takes for love and the good of his kingdom but not at the expense of Hekla's suffering. There is a point where he realizes he must choose between pious duty to his mother and culture and his love for Hekla. Once he makes his decision, from then on it's a blazing path to glory for Hekla and Belenus. Despite all the struggles, nothing can stop them from achieving their goals and from the intense love and respect they have for one another.
The way that Hekla and Belenus's relationship comes to flourish is a long journey that includes trekking, forests, ambushes, attacks from other creatures, and intervening from a wicked mother queen but in the end, it's worth it, as they get to know each other's weaknesses and strengths, they learn to love each other for who they are.
I am glad the author has continued to write and look forward to any other upcoming releases. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good sit-me-down steamy fantasy romance full of strength, perseverance, change, and most of all love.
