Una storia avvincente da leggere, il contributo di uno squisito narratore alla sempre controversa questione del femminismo da una prospettiva inevitabilmente letteraria. Circa l'autore: Virginia Woolf 1882-1941), è stata una scrittrice britannica, autrice di romanzi, racconti, opere teatrali e altre opere letterarie; considerata una delle figure di spicco del modernismo anglosassone d'avanguardia del XX secolo e del femminismo internazionale. Era una figura significativa nella società letteraria londinese e membro del gruppo Bloomsbury. Le sue opere più famose includono i romanzi Mrs. Dalloway (1925), The Lighthouse (1927), Orlando: A Biography (1928), The Waves (1931) e il suo breve saggio A Room of His Own (1929), con il suo famoso frase "Una donna deve avere soldi e una stanza tutta per sé se vuole scrivere narrativa". Fu riscoperta negli anni '70 grazie a quello stesso saggio, uno dei testi più citati del movimento femminista, che espone le difficoltà delle donne .
