Ticks are small, blood-feeding external parasites that belong to the arachnid family, making them relatives of spiders, scorpions, and mites. Though tiny, ticks are among the most dangerous vectors of disease affecting both animals and humans. What Are Ticks? Ticks are ectoparasites - meaning they live on the outside of a host and feed on its blood.
