About the Author :
Nació en Managua, Nicaragua. Es autora de una obra poética de reconocido prestigio internacional, por la que ha recibido el Premio Mariano Fiallos Gil, el Premio Casa de las Américas, el Premio Internacional Generación del 27 y el Premio Internacional Ciudad de Melilla. Su primera novela, La mujer habitada (1988), ha sido traducida a once idiomas con enorme éxito, especialmente en Italia o Alemania, donde ha superado el millón de lectores en veinticinco ediciones y ha obtenido el Premio de los Bibliotecarios, Editores y Libreros a la Novela Política de 1989 y el Premio Anna Seghers de la Academia de las Artes. También es autora de las novelas Sofía de los presagios (1990), Waslala (1996; Seix Barral, 2006) y El pergamino de la seducción (Seix Barral, 2005), y de El país bajo mi piel (2001), sus memorias durante el periodo sandinista.
