Trotz sozialen und politischen Engagements wurden die Logischen Empiristen – allen voran die Mitglieder des Wiener Kreises – nicht für ihr überschwängliches Interesse an Ethik und Wertphilosophie bekannt. Abgesehen von wenigen radikalen metaethischen Ausführungen hätten sie keinerlei Interesse an Fragen der Moral und Lebenspraxis gezeigt. Ihnen wurde sogar vorgeworfen, Werte und Moral zu zerstören. Der Umstand, dass sich viele aus der Bewegung um Moritz Schlick, Rudolf Carnap und Otto Neurath diesen Bereichen sehr wohl zuwandten und sich in vielfältiger Weise dazu äußerten, wird bis heute kaum zur Kenntnis genommen. Die Autorinnen und Autoren unternehmen in diesem Band eine längst fällige Neubewertung logisch-empiristischer Positionen in Fragen von Werten und Moral und beleuchten die wissenschaftlich-humanistisch motivierte Ablehnung traditioneller Ethik jenseits vorherrschender Klischeebilder.
