Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: sehr gut, Universität Potsdam (Germanistisches Institut), Veranstaltung: HS Mythos und Geschlecht/ (2003), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Es wird wohl nie jemand - gleich Borges' Bibliothek von Babel - eine Bibliothek eröffnen, in welcher sich in ihren heiligen Hallen auf hunderten Metern hoher Regale das gesammelte Schweigen der Menschheit drängt. Macht schon die Idee einer solchen Bibliothek eigentlich keinen Sinn? Doch! So seltsam es auch klingen mag, hat doch das Schweigen eine rege (wenn auch weitgehend unbekannte) Geschichte des Verschweigens hinter sich. Und genau hier trifft es sich mit der Frau (als solcher). Es scheint, wir befinden uns an einer Kreuzung, denn wieder trifft jemand auf dieser Straße mit den beiden schon Anwesenden zusammen - Medea. Auch ihre Geschichte ist eine, die nahezu ausschließlich von Männern niedergelegt wurde. Dabei steht außer Frage, dass Männer auf andere Art und Weise und mit eigener Motivation diese Geschichte niedergelegt haben, als Frauen es getan hätten. Daher muss dieser Sachverhalt bei der Untersuchung von Medeas Reise durch die Jahrtausende immer mitreflektiert wer- den, denn er hat dazu geführt, dass bestimmte Dinge betont und andere verschwiegen wurden. Und warum Medea? Weil sie eine Frau ist. Dennoch soll es um Medea gehen, denn sie ist einerseits eine Polarisationsfigur männlicher Weiblichkeitsprojektionen und zugleich in den letzten Jahren innerhalb der verstärkten Selbstbeschreibung durch Frauen eine Identifikationsfigur weiblichen Schreibens. Und weil zu einer guten Kreuzung eigentlich immer vier Straßen gehören, kommt als letzter noch der Mythos in den Kreis der Besehenen. Seine Gemeinsamkeit mit den anderen, die sich über die besondere Verfasstheit ihrer Geschichte identifizieren, ist nicht unbedingt offensichtlich, geht man doch allgemein davon aus, dass der Mythos zeitlos ist.
