Mit Jenseits der Arbeit ist die Idee der Aufhebung der Arbeit im sozialistischen Denken gemeint. Die Aufhebung der Arbeit ist nicht als Aufhebung der Produktion überhaupt zu verstehen, sondern als Umwandlung der bisher instrumentell ausgerichteten Produktionstätigkeit in «Selbsttätigkeit», in «Selbstzweck». Die Aufhebung der Arbeit stellt das Fundament des authentischen Kommunismus bei Karl Marx dar. Die Aufhebung des Privateigentums, der Arbeitsteilung und des Staates resultiert nach seiner Auffassung aus der Aufhebung der Arbeit. Der Sozialismus als Jenseits der Arbeit wurde von Marx-Auslegern und marxistischen Politikern übersehen bzw. umgangen. Erst Erich Fromm und Herbert Marcuse haben diese Idee aufgenommen und in ihre Lehren integriert. Beiden schwebte eine nicht-instrumentell ausgerichtete Technologie vor. Die große Utopie Marcuses besteht in der Gleichsetzung der Aufhebung der Arbeit mit der Wiedererotisierung der Produktionstätigkeit und der gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse. Der Zusammenbruch des stalinistischen Kommunismus in den ehemaligen Ostblockstaaten führte nicht zum Versuch einer Verwirklichung des Sozialismus als Jenseits der Arbeit, sondern in einen harten Kapitalismus. Dabei scheint die Aufhebung der Arbeit heute, angesichts der Entwicklung von Computertechnologien, noch realisierbarer als zur Zeit der drei großen Denker. In ihrer Verwirklichung besteht eine große Hoffnung für eine freiere Menschheit.

Der Autor: Uri Zilbersheid, 1950 in Tiberias, Israel, geboren. Studium der Philosophie und Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Haifa; Magister-Abschluß 1982. Promotionsstudium an der Universität Frankfurt am Main; Promotion 1986. Von 1988 bis 1989 Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeit an der Universität Marburg, von 1990 bis 1995 Dozent für Philosophie und Geschichte am Lehrerseminar der Kibbuzbewegung in Tel-Aviv. Seit 1995 Dozent für politische Philosophie und Anthropologie am Emek Yezneel Academic College, Israel, an dessen Aufbau er beteiligt war.
