About the Book

Untersuchungen der letzten Jahre haben gezeigt, d irn Vergleich zur Allgemeinnarkose die verschiedenen Verfahren der Regionalanaesthesie perioperativ einen giinstigeren Einfl auf Atmung, Kreislaufund ope- rationsbedingte StreBreaktionen haben. Diese Vorteile, die besonders fUr Risikopatienten von Bedeutung sind, setzen eine sorgfliltige Tech- nik und Uberwachung voraus. Hierliber und tiber M nahmen zur Vermeidung von Komplika- tionen bei einer Regionalanaesthesie wurde von 26 Experten auf dem 3. Internationalen Symposium in DUsseldorf diskutiert. In diesem Band sind 29 Vortrlige zusammengef t, die zu den drei Themenkreisen 1. Techniken der Epidural-und Plexusanaesthesie, 2. mogliche Ursachen von Komplikationen bei Plexus-und rlickenmarks- nahen Leitungsanaesthesien, sowie 3. Wirkung und Gefahren der epidural bzw. intrathekal verabreichten Opiate gehalten wurden. Unter dem Blickwinkel der Sicherheit fUr den Patienten wurden die Technik und die fUr die Blockaden verwendeten Materialien und Medi- kamente, insbesondere epidural verabreichte Opiate, kritisch beurteilt und Verbesserungsvorschllige erarbeitet. Darnit kann sich der klinisch tlitige Anaesthesist schnell und urn- fassend tiber Aspekte der Leitungsanaesthesie informieren, die bisher in der Literatur nur wenig berlicksichtigt wurden. Dieser Band erglinzt den heutigen Erkenntnisstand tiber die Regio- nalanaesthesie, der in den beiden frliheren Banden dieser Serie darge- stellt wurde.
