Im Jahr 1515 publizierte der Rostocker Prediger Joachim Sluter das erste niederdeutsche Gesangbuch. Damit machte er dem norddeutschen Sprachgebiet als Erster wichtige Liedtexte der Reformation zuganglich. Die vorliegende CD vermittelt einen Klangeindruck dieses wirkungsmachtigen Projekts, das bis nach England und Skandinavien ausstrahlte. Gewurdigt wird damit die historische Relevanz dieses Zeugnisses norddeutscher Reformation. Zum Reformationsjubilaum liegen ausgewahlte Stucke des Gesangbuchs sowie ein ausfuhrliches Booklet vor. Die CD richtet sich gleichermassen an Fachwissenschaftler wie an ein breites Publikum und prasentiert eine wissenschaftlich fundierte Einspielung der Lieder durch Chore und Instrumentalisten der Rostocker St.-Johannis-Kantorei unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. h.c. Markus Johannes Langer. Das beigefugte Booklet bietet die Edition, Ubersetzung und Kommentierung aller eingespielten Stucke durch Prof. Dr. Franz-Josef Holznagel (Text) und Prof. Dr. Hartmut Moller (Musik).

About the Author :
Prof. Dr. Franz-Josef Holznagel ist Professor fur deutsche Sprach- und Literaturgeschichte des Spatmittelalters im medien- und kulturgeschichtlichen Kontext an der Universitat Rostock sowie erster Vorsitzender der Wolfram von Eschenbach-Gesellschaft. Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten gehort die Geschichte der Lyrik vom 9. bis zum 16. Jahrhundert sowie die Edition, Kommentierung und Ubersetzung von niederdeutschen Klassikern. Prof. Dr. Hartmut Moller ist Professor fur Musikwissenschaft an der Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Rostock und Grundungsmitglied des Graduiertenkollegs Kulturkontakt und Wissenschaftsdiskurs. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen neben der Musik des Mittelalters und des 16. Jahrhunderts in der Neuen Musik und Popularmusik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts sowie der Theorie der Musikgeschichtsschreibung. Prof Dr. h.c. Markus J. Langer ist Kirchenmusiker an der St.-Johannis-Kirche in Rostock und leitet eine der grossten Kantoreien Norddeutschlands, die mit rund 50 Konzerten pro Jahr an die Offentlichkeit tritt. Er ist Honorarprofessor an der Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Rostock und Ehrendoktor der Universitat Rostock. Fur seine Verdienste um die Kirchenmusik erhielt er verschiedene Kulturpreise, u.a. der Hansestadt Rostock und des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern sowie den Titel Kirchenmusikdirektor der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Landeskirche Mecklenburgs.
