L'histoire de la linguistique est traversée de plusieurs courants qui se sont intéressés à des énoncés « incomplets », traités tantôt comme « elliptiques », tantôt comme « fragmentaires », selon le rapport que l'on établit ou non avec des structures sous-jacentes « canoniques ». Cet ouvrage propose des analyses de divers segments à première vue réduits en français. Les auteurs sont entre autres amenés à confronter les incomplétudes et mécanismes de reconstitution syntaxique, d'une part, aux dépendance sémantique et redondance informationnelle, d'autre part. Selon le point de vue adopté, les uns plaident pour le maintien de « ellipse » et de « fragment », tout en avançant des critères distinctifs pour les deux concepts; d'autres, par contre, les mettent sur un pied d'égalité; certains, enfin, vont jusqu'à les rejeter sur la base de la non-pertinence du postulat des régularités au niveau de l'interface syntaxe-sémantique. Par le biais de ces traitements apparemment contradictoires, les différentes contributions permettront au lecteur de se former une meilleure idée de la raison d'être de structures réduites, de la différence entre analyse syntaxique et interprétation sémantique, de la genèse de l'éventuelle opération réductrice et des conditions de récupérabilité syntaxique ou sémantique.

About the Author :
Pascale Hadermann, docteur en philosophie et lettres de la Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), est professeure en linguistique française et en didactique du français langue étrangère à l'Université de Gand. Ses recherches portent sur la syntaxe et la sémantique du français ainsi que sur la didactique du FLE. Michel Pierrard, docteur en philosophie et lettres de la VUB, est professeur de linguistique française et de didactique du français langue seconde et étrangère à la VUB. Ses recherches portent sur la syntaxe et la sémantique du français moderne et sur l'appropriation du français L2. Audrey Roig est maitre en langues et littératures françaises et romanes de l'Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) et chercheuse au F.R.S. - FNRS. Ses recherches portent notamment sur l'article et sur les structures corrélatives isomorphes en français contemporain. Dan Van Raemdonck, docteur en philosophie et lettres de l'ULB, est professeur de linguistique française (langue maternelle et langue étrangère) à l'ULB et à la VUB. Ses recherches portent sur la syntaxe de la phrase française et visent à développer une linguistique applicable.
