About the Book

Patron visionnaire, Antoine Riboud, puis ensuite son fils Franck, ont fait de Danone une entreprise profondement singuliere, affichant une ambition sociale, creuset de multiples initiatives innovantes. C'est a Marseille en 1972 qu'Antoine Riboud, a la stupefaction du patronat de l'epoque, prononce un discours quasi revolutionnaire qui tente de reconcilier dans un meme projet la reussite economique et financiere d'une entreprise et sa responsabilite vis-a-vis des salaries et de la collectivite. Pour passer du discours aux actes, Antoine Riboud decide la creation d'un laboratoire d'innovations sociales. L'expression des salaries et l'auto-organisation sont mises en oeuvre dans les usines mais sont questionnees par la crise petroliere. Les restructurations, la productivite et l'emploi deviennent alors les enjeux majeurs. BSN contribue a transformer le dialogue social en France en signant de nombreux accords de modernisation qui inspirent le rapport Modernisation Mode d'emploi ... redige en 1987 a la demande du Premier Ministre Jacques Chirac. La mondialisation de Danone au cours des annees 90 puis la crise autour de la restructuration de LU sont autant de mise a l'epreuve de l'ambition sociale de l'entreprise. En 2006, Franck Riboud lance avec Muhammad Yunus, prix Nobel de la paix, le fonds danone.communities dedie a la creation de social business. En 2009, en reponse a la crise, est cree le fonds Danone ecosysteme. Son objet est de renforcer les acteurs vulnerables de l'environnement proche des societes de Danone comme les petits producteurs de lait ou le petit commerce informel dans les pays emergents. En 2015, est signe l'accord Livelihoods pour l'agriculture familiale avec l'entreprise Mars pour aider l'agriculture durable en Afrique, Asie et Amerique latine. Jerome Tubiana nous plonge dans cette histoire riche et mouvementee qui se lit comme une saga industrielle des XXe et XXIe siecles ou les frottements, les conflits et les tensions ont souvent fini par deboucher sur de profondes metamorphoses.
