Jamais la plume etincelante du moraliste ne s'est faite plus mordante dans l'ironie ( il est vrai que vous avez un beau jour decide, sans m'en avoir parle, de me sauver, de me priver de la damnation eternelle, vous me devez peut-etre cette infime reparation ), plus etincelante dans l'aphorisme ( Puis-je vous dire que je vous esperais sans miracles ? ), plus touchante dans le desarroi ( Nous, les exclus de la Foi, nous savons bien que vous ne croiserez pas notre chemin, que nous creverons dans le doute )."
