About the Book

In both writing and dream awareness, you have to learn how to relax the conscious, critical faculty in order to let the amazing stories and images that flow like an underground stream in the unconscious mind to emerge. Written for both writers and dreamers, this guidebook, by seasoned author and teacher of creative writing and dreaming, Jenny Alexander, is packed with practical tips and exercises to help you - enter the dream or 'writer's trance' at will, through intention and surrender - explore the unique landscapes, themes and images of your personal unconscious - increase your dream awareness to boost your writing - use writing to deepen your understanding of dreams - enter the mythic dimension, where 'big dreams' and bestsellers are born "A fascinating mixture of handbook and autobiography. I learnt things, my mind was opened and it was a damn good read." - Nicola Morgan, author and public speaker Note: This book was previously published as 'Writing in the House of Dreams: Creative adventures for Dreamers and Writers'

About the Author :
Since her first book was published in 1994, Jenny Alexander has written about 150 books for children and adults, articles in magazines including Mslexia, The Author and Junior Education, several interactive CDRoms and a writing app. Jenny teaches workshops on the art and craft of writing fiction, non-fiction and memoir, for everyone from complete beginners to published authors. She has worked for national organisations such as The Arvon Foundation, The Society of Authors, The Scattered Authors' Society and The Writing Retreat, as well as a wide variety of local groups, from home-educated children to people in the workplace. Some of her workshops include creative dreaming and image work. Jenny's workshops taught me to stop panicking about my creativity and to start listening properly to my own inner thoughts. I've used her workshop ideas again and again to help me cope with creative problems. Moira Butterfield You can read about her books and workshops on her website www.jennyalexander.co.uk

Review :
A cracking read... astounding! The dream journey is insightful and dramatic and leads beautifully into the writing exercises. Lesley Howarth, award-winning authorJenny carefully weaves the threads of her own life in Shetland and in Cornwall with her knowledge of psychology, anthropology, myths and therapy, and builds a fascinating book for dreamers and for writers. Penny Dolan, Awfully Big Reviews It is so smart and so refreshingly original. You don't know where the journey is going to take you or what is coming next. I love that! Sian Morgan, author and psychologistIt's very exciting that the extraordinarily beautiful, creative and individual ideas Jenny has shared for years in dream workshops and conversations with friends have finally got a chance to be shared with the world at large. Liz Kessler, New Your Times bestselling authorThis is an astonishing book. I don't think I've read another like it. It's a book of writing exercises and advice on how to write - but, equally, exercises and advice on how to live another life, in your dreams. Susan Price, award-winning authorHow lovely - the idea of enjoying dreams for what they are, without the need for instant interpretation - just a gradual opening to deeper understanding, and how our inner life can enrich both writing, and day to day existence... I was surprised at how quickly my dream recall came back to me after a long gap from recording my dreams. Josephine Gabriel, writer and bloggerAn unusual blend of autobiography, psychology and insights into the creative process centring around the gifts offered by our dreams. I found it fascinating and informative from beginning to end. Victoria Field, writer and poetry therapist
