About the Author :
Alex Martin is the author of two dozen books on subjects such as the culture of contemporary Britain and daily life in the Roman world. As well as history and travel he writes children's and adult's fiction. He won the Betty Trask Prize in 1988 for his novel The General Interruptor (about English people living the bohemian life in Italy). He has taught English at the University of Verona, and lectured abroad frequently for the British Council. He is currently a visiting Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund at Oxford Brookes University.
