About the Book

Isobel Kuhn wasn’t always a missionary – she wasn’t always a Christian. Her teachers discouraged a belief in God and promoted evolution. Isobel sometimes doubted whether there was anybody there at all to hear her prayers. “They don’t go beyond the ceiling you know,” she once said to her father who was desperately praying for his young daughter.   She felt like there was no point in living, did didn’t want to cause her parents heartbreak.    Discover what brought this questioning, antagonistic teenager from doubts to faith in Christ. Find out how she affected the lives of countless people on the mission field of China and Thailand.   The Trailblazer series collects great stories from Christians of the past and delivers them to the young people of today.  This gripping and astonishing story from Irene Howat will challenge young readers to have faith in God like Isobel Kuhn did.   A well–known and long–standing series: Over 50 titles Great for ages 9 to 14 Published in 14 languages Half a million books sold Also available in box sets when one book is not enough! 7 themed box sets, each with 5 books Each biography follows the trailblazer’s journey to faith, and on to the work that God had planned for them. With lots of dialogue, these engaging stories show how God uses normal individuals to bring about his purpose.   Each book features: Thinking Further Topics for each chapter to help readers think about how what they’ve read applies to their life today Timeline of important events in the lifetime of each book’s subject

About the Author :
Irene Howat is an award–winning author and poet who lives in Scotland. She has published many biographical books for all ages and is particularly well–known for her biographical material. She has written many books about the lives of different Christians from around the world. She has also written an autobiographical work entitled ‘Pain My Companion’.

Review :
Try another Trailblazer: No Mountain too High - Gladys Aylward by Myrna Grant. Gladys Aylward was another trailblazing Christian who changed the lives of the people around her. She was also a missionary in the Far East. Both Gladys and Isobel are good role models and heroines that girls can believe in. This book tells of the power of prayer in their lives and of the many sacrifices of creature comforts they endured joyfully and without complaint. It details fascinating descriptions of ship travel to and from China and the Philippines. It could be read profitably by an adult, a student, or read aloud to an entire family. School-aged children would find it an appropriate selection for a book report, too.
