About the Book

Irish Blood, English Heart is an exploration of how memories, real and imagined, can shape our lives. Ray is a charming, enigmatic and successful comedian turned author. His brother Con is a London taxi driver struggling to keep his family together and bruised by his brother's success. When the two meet in a mysterious lockup following their estranged father's death, raw memories and unspoken truths come spilling out. Irish Blood, English Heart was performed at Trafalgar Studios, 2 May 2011 - 21 May 2011

About the Author :
DARREN MURPHY is an award-winning playwright whose plays have been produced worldwide. Review :
"a powerful theatrical experience" – British Theatre Guide “Darren Murphy is clearly a generous man. We go to the theatre expecting one play and he gives us at least three [Murphy] gives his actors plenty to chew on”—3 stars, Michael Billington, The Guardian “Murphy’s image of adult family life is brittle and accurate… Amusing, clever and close to the bones of London, Irish Blood, English Heart is a convincing exploration of the ties of blood and nationalism. I recommend it to both Londoners and non-Londoners alike”—A Younger Theatre “Darren Murphy’s tense exploration of the inheritance of second-generation immigrants is leavened by moments of brilliant humour and an ironic turn of phrase. [a] well-plotted script..”—The Stage “Irish Blood, English Heart has an excellent cast playing a universal story against a dusty map of London, that will leave you pondering the nature of human faith and failings long after the stage goes dark.”—4 stars, whatsonstage.com "a powerful theatrical experience" – British Theatre Guide “Darren Murphy is clearly a generous man.
