About the Book

Refugees on the Move highlights and explores the profound complexities of the current refugee issue by focusing specifically on Syrian refugees in Turkey and other European countries and responses from the host countries involved. It examines the causes of the movement of refugee populations, the difficulties they face during their journeys, the daily challenges and obstacles they experience, and host governments’ attempts to manage and overcome the so-called “refugee crisis.”

Review :
“Chapters in this collection discuss both the issues that host countries face, such as welfare nationalism and legal status, and challenges that refugees themselves face, such as wage theft and integration. The book also contains a very useful discussion of refugees from a Marxist perspective and an analysis of the history of refugees in Europe…The book has several chapters that will be especially useful to scholars in the field.” • Choice “This is a well-crafted mix of broad considerations of the production of the refugee, as well as contextualized and detailed considerations of refugees in two especially important regions.” • Chaise LaDousa, Hamilton College, New York “The book is an important contribution to an understanding of the current refugee crisis and its implications on the host countries.” • Ahmet Oncu, Sabanci University, Turkey
