About the Book

Are you a member-leader trying to bring belonging to your team, a young adult searching for belonging in friendships, a parent trying to belong in your life stage, or an immigrant trying to find your place? In The Belonging Paradox, Dr. Iwuchukwu brings a fresh perspective to belonging, using a story-based lens to frame our very human need for belonging in liminal spaces; those life spaces where we stand on thresholds between belonging and yet not belonging. In this exploration on belonging paradoxes in families, friendships, work, and parenting, readers will find similarities to their own belonging stories, evocative reminders that belonging is found both within and outside of ourselves. This incisive narrative takes readers on a journey of finding answers to the many questions of belonging in interpersonal relationships. The journey to discovering and practicing true belonging described in this book does not end without a destination as Dr. Iwuchukwu offers practical and easily implemented ways for readers to enhance belonging both personally and collectively in their communities at different life stages.

About the Author :
Otito F. Iwuchukwu, PhD is an author, speaker, educator-scientist and organizational psychologist on a mission to write books that help people connect with themselves, each other, and the world around them through stories. Her latest book, The Belonging Paradox, is a personal navigator's guide to understanding oneself in relationship to others in various life spaces. Through individual belonging stories, research insights and incisive reflection questions, the book encourages readers to perceive belonging and then beam it out into the world. When we belong to ourselves, no matter who we are or where you are, we can let go of the stories we tell ourselves as we reframe challenging interpersonal relationships. Otito believes that belonging is both personal and collective and is not an individual mission to be conquered. We need community to fully reflect belonging. The Belonging Paradox helps readers see in no uncertain terms that we learn to truly belong to ourselves, we are able to offer true belonging to others in life. Review :
In The Belonging Paradox, Dr. Iwuchukwu takes us on a story-form dissection into the timeless struggle between staying true to who we are and fitting into the many social groups that we navigate in life. How do we strike the right balance between individuality and belonging? How do we embrace this tension while preserving our authenticity and sense of connection? This is a book that brings answers to these questions, offering powerful insights to help you confidently be yourself while cultivating a genuine sense of belonging in any environment. I highly recommend this book. Dr Adeshola Ezeokoli, Author of Free To Be In The Belonging Paradox, Dr Otito Iwuchukwu draws on her deep academic expertise and lived experience as an expatriate navigating cross-cultural contexts, life stages, faith settings, career roles and geographic locations to offer powerful insights on belonging. With candor, passion, vulnerability and wisdom, The Belonging Paradox takes us on a journey that at its core explores what it means to be human in today's polarized world Dr Sosunmolu Shoyinka, Author of Understanding Mental Health: A Guide for Faith Communities This book is mind blowing. So many universal experiences coming together and making so much sense. An eye opener for those of us in the diaspora community for sure as so many of us struggle with being able to put these feelings into words." Reader, United Kingdom
