About the Book

The Wondrous Cloud Forest is a gentle and optimistic introduction to Climate Change. This rhyming picture book is about one of Earth's last undisturbed places. Travel to a far away island shrouded in fog to meet exotic rare creatures. An educational and entertaining journey through richly saturated watercolors. You will learn what photosynthesis is and why this vital ecosystem in Papua New Guinea is so critical to the ecology of our planet. You'll understand why people from across the globe are working to protect this enchanting land and all of its endangered species. Painted by adding coffee to watercolors, not only to bring out beautiful warm tones, but to convey that beyond its rich color, coffee is economically relevant to the Forest, as the crop has become an alternative means of income for the local people in lieu of hunting and deforesting. Written and illustrated by award winning artist Wendra Lynne. Inspired by whimsy of The Lorax, and beauty of The Great Kapok Tree this book is an invitation to share your love for nature with all ages.

Review :
"I adore this book. Occasionally one finds a book that is gorgeous and teaches children and adults. The Wondrous Cloud Forest, beautifully written and illustrated, educates about protecting wildlife and the environment. Poetic prose and paintings of exotic birds, insects, mammals, and flowers illustrate the beauty and importance of cloud forests. The book's unhurried poetry and lush paintings show children the animals, plants, people, and science of this unique and magical ecosystem in Papua, New Guinea. The book also asks children if they would like to help the animals in the cloud forest and offers suggestions on what they can do. Anyone can benefit from this part. The book's concept intrigued me on Kickstarter. After buying one and seeing its message conveyed so beautifully and with simplicity, I bought another!" - Susan Cruise "A spectacular introduction to biodiversity and life in the PNG rainforest as well as an introduction to conservation of tree kangaroos." Lisa Dabek, Ph D Woodland Park Zoo. Senior Conservation Scientist/Director of the Papua New Guinea Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program "We just purchased these books for our gift shop. Some of the proceeds from the sales will be going to TKCP, just like our YUS coffee. Both of these items are in our gift shop now and we couldn't be more excited!" - Jade Salamone, Conservation Education Curator, Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo "Received your book today and read it during my lunch break! I'm in love with it! I am requesting to purchase 10 copies now for the holidays, then another 10 at the end of February for Spring Break." - Ann Walls. Dallas World Aquarium Gift Shop "I'm a very picky school librarian, enchanted by this book. Our art teacher recognized the unique beauty in this gorgeously-illustrated introduction to the cloud forest of Papua, New Guinea, and bought a copy for our library. It features plants and animals rendered in vibrant, coffee-enhanced watercolors. Lyrical poetry describes not only the wildlife but also the people of the island. The author saves the gently-worded threat for the very end, but retains positive feelings with a hopeful message that people are working hard to save this vital environment and the life it supports. Includes information on how we can help, too." - Bonnie, on Goodreads. "This picture book will delight young and old alike. Wendra Lynne takes the reader on a magical journey of a cloud forest, detailing in her lyrical text and images the wonders this unusual and endangered forest holds. This book will expand both a reader's knowledge and imagination, as learn how to protect this ecosystem. It makes a perfect gift!" - Kristine S. "This book is magnificent, the paintings are magical and the message is touching. It brought tears to my eyes."- Theresa M. "The message is as beautiful as the artwork. Diverse, fanciful, colorful imagery and charming characters are featured throughout this high quality book. The rhyming story is fun to read and has a positive message. Highly recommend!" - Sharon S. "I fell in love with The Wondrous Cloud Forest! The message is such an important message that all human beings need to hear--not just children. I love the illustrations as well, they are so beautiful! At the end of the book, the author tells us more on how to get involved and what we can do to help our beautiful planet. I love having resources to share with my children. This book truly is beautiful, from the hard cover, to the illustrations, to the message, and to resources. I know every child will love to read about these cool and exotic animals and how they need their home." - Cara B.
