About the Author :
Bradford William Pazant is a Black writer, educator, and cultural storyteller whose work weaves poetry, history, and lived experience into transformative narratives. With roots in Harlem, New York, and the Gullah traditions of coastal South Carolina, his voice bridges generations of struggle, joy, and collective truth-telling. He is the founder of Teach Between the Lines, an educational platform and creative imprint dedicated to culturally responsive teaching, historical storytelling, and curriculum grounded in liberation. Through his books, lesson plans, and public speaking, Bradford continues to teach, write, and dream at the intersections of education, memory, and power. His writing is driven by the belief that stories are maps and that joy is its own form of resistance and survival. We Were Never Meant to Beg for Light is Bradford's testament to the resilience, brilliance, and boundless creativity of Black communities across time. He continues to inspire through his work as a teacher, writer, and advocate for culturally responsive education, weaving past and present into a tapestry of hope, pride, and liberation.
