About the Book

J.K. Puck, the School That Doesn't Suck is the story of Luca and Rad, thirteen-year-old twins, who have unique gifts such as being able to fly and read minds. The day after the twins turn thirteen, their mother disappears while on a research trip to Central America. The twins are forced to move to Prince of Wales Island, Alaska and live with an aunt they barely know. Luca and Rad discover a new life in Alaska, very different from the entertaining basement where they spent most of their life due to sun allergies. The life includes real school, J.K. Puck Middle School, a private school high up Shadow Mountain. Luca and Rad uncover many secrets in Alaska. Bat ecosystems in Central America, strange red coffee beans, a cave full of bottled eyes that stare and hiss, and a Mayan legend of a lost civilization of half-bloods high in the mountains of Guatemala are all entangled as the twins discover who they are and what their place is in the struggle of good versus evil.

About the Author :
Dr. Sue Clifton was born in the middle of Interstate Highway 55, northbound, in the fast lane. Her life began in the fast lane and she's been speeding in everything she's thought and done since. However, at the time she was born, the spot where Interstate 55 would later dissect her life was nothing more than a ram-shackled, brick-siding house with no indoor plumbing in rural north Mississippi. Dr. Sue Clifton spent her childhood mountain climbing in red clay gullies and writing her own series of Nancy Drew type mysteries. By the time she was sixteen, she already had two plays published. As an adult, Dr. Sue pursued a new passion, education and worked as a teacher and administrator in Canada, New Zealand, Mississippi, Alaska, and on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. After retiring from education, Dr. Sue set to work on her neglected passion, and in 2009-2010, she fulfilled the last of the three lifelong goals she had set for herself when Red Rose Publishing published three of her novels: THE HAWK AND THE DEER, INGREDIENT FOR MURDER, and THE GULLY PATH. The unique places where Dr. Sue has lived have provided rich background for the characters created in her novels. Now retired, Dr. Sue Clifton lives in Mississippi and Montana and is able to write full time, except for the time she spends traveling, hiking and fly fishing with her husband Woody and their grandchildren. She also enjoys ghost hunting with her sister Nyoka Beer.
