About the Book

This book simply dissects the interesting, inspiring, and sometimes lonely world of the teacher of early childhood. As the continued advancements in education across the board hint at a brighter future for our children and our society, we are troubled that some of the same practices that have prevented earlier generations of students and teachers from prospering in the classroom are still commonplace. Johns and Wallace endeavor to touch the hearts of teachers, administrators, and parents who know deep down there is still such a long way to go and who understand that the tasks assigned to teachers are sometimes overwhelming. Great classrooms have teachers who care deeply for the children entrusted to their care while great schools continually forge ahead in providing the necessary human resources, tools, training, and support in the affective domain that teachers so desperately need in order to have meaningful, fulfilling careers.

Review :
When brilliance and the love of children meet commitment to their education, a wondrous work is born! Dr. Rocky Wallace and Professor Robin Johns have crafted a masterpiece sure to inspire for generations to come. The story of Miss Mollett and Nellie in Johns & Wallace’s book is one that you hear of all the time in the days of high stakes assessment and accountability, it’s all about the test scores. Miss Mollett reminds us of the real reason we became teachers. Come to our school, Miss Mollett! We will take a caring and compassionate educator like you anytime. After reading the first few lines, my heart didn't want me to read any more. I had tears, chills, and a heavy heart. In my forty years of teaching, did I do all I could to save the little lost ones in my care? I went on to read the rest because I knew that I had something rare and special in my hands. This is a masterpiece and I thank you, Robin Johns and Rocky Wallace, for your brilliant book. It will be a required text for my future college classes. What a gift Robin and Rocky have produced! I laughed. I cried. I loved each chapter more than the one before. This remarkable product should be a required textbook for anyone going into preschool or elementary school teaching. ?It moved me deeply.
