His LordsP was in a perfect resignation to ye will of God, yl he did not only bear his pains and agonys wth patience, but also wtb perfect chearfulness, and ye same sweetness of temper he always enjoyed in ye most perfect health. And tho' he was so mighty weak yl 'tis but seldom his LordsP could speak, yet whenever he was able, we, who had the honour to be about his person, had ye pleasure as well as improvem1 of hearing his wise pious discourses and admonitions, which I hope will have ye effect on us as I am sure my Lord design'd them for, in making us better every day he liv'd, in order to resign so good a master without repining at ye will of Providence. I would inlarge upon this subject, but his LordsP'8 distinguisht character and merit is so very well known in Holland, as well as in other Courts of Europe, yl ye Viceroy said, wn I notified him this sad news, yl he would serve ye Countess of Shaftesbury, not only as being Count Borromee of Milan, but as Viceroy of Naples, in behalf of his Imperial Majesty, whose august family ow'd so much to this great genius, who influenced our Parlemte, Sec. His LordsP'8 body is embalm'd and ready to go by sea in a very little while; wch done, my Lady, according to my Lord's last desires, sets out for Rome, in order to reach England, family, and friends ye soonest possible.
