-Is harassment a reality in the collection industry today? "yes"-Do collectors misrepresent the truth in order to collect money? "yes" -Does intimidation exist within the culture of collections? "yes" -Are consumers rights continually violated? "yes"-Are consumers verbally threatened by collectors? "yes" It's because of the obvious answers to these questions, that I've written "Collection Practices Exposed". My desire for writing this book, is to help consumers identify unlawful collection practices. Though it's not enough to know that a collector has broken the law by violating your rights. The material within this book also empowers consumers; teaching individuals how to capitalize on the violations of collectors and collection agencies.This book is by no means an exhausted effort. In fact, I purposely chose to create an informative work in hopes of only sharing what's relevant regarding a number of different topics. In doing so, I trust that you will learn a lot of necessary information, without having to read through a ton of additional material. My background over the past 18 years, has been in the collection industry. I have seen it all; the good, the bad and the ugly. I have seen enough to know that consumers rights are regularly violated; not because collectors "did not know any better", rather because collectors and collection agencies made willful choices to violate the rights of consumers. Basic civility expects humanity not to lie to one another, harass or abuse one another. People don't have to be taught how to treat others with respect, "doing to others as you'd have done to you". With that said, people automatically know that harassment is wrong; misrepresenting the truth is wrong; verbally or physically abusing others is wrong. The culture of collections has evolved a lot in the past 18 years. Gone are the days where a collector can feel comfortable about lying and threatening consumers, to get what they want. Though I am not saying such behavior no longer exists. Today, many agencies are more consumer conscious than ever before, adhering more closely to the regulatory governance of the FDCPA, FTC, etc.In today's social culture where protecting the rights of others is largely in the forefront of people's minds and hearts; "Collection Practices Exposed" was written. Oppression is never acceptable regardless of why and who is being oppressed. Just because an individual owes an outstanding balance, doesn't make them a bad person. Their debt owed, doesn't give collectors the right to violate basic civility and regulatory laws put into place by regulatory acts, to collect on a debt.Throughout the pages of this book, I trust you will be empowered to identify unlawful practices and how to act against those who've willfully wronged you.
