Semina igitur artis, quae iam pridem in Attica nata diu manserant inculta, ut tarde pro venirent paullatimque pubescerent quum summa cfl'cctum rerum opportunitate, tum viris divino paene ingenio praeditis. Quam quam enim de inventione 'tragoediae multum saepe disputatum est, hoc sane constat, 'l'hespin primum initia poesis scenicae, antea furori cuidam et insaniae permissa, in artis l'ormam re degisse.
